Slovura 02 - Basic Sentence Structure

The basic sentence structure in Slovura is exactly the same as in Toki Pona, including the same words separating subject, verb and object.

Basic Slovura Sentence Structure

subject li verb (e object).

Example

mi li mo e fru.
I eat fruit.

Unlike in Toki Pona where li is left out if the subject is just first or second person singular, li in Slovura is never omitted.

Subject

The subject is the main actor or actors in a sentence, like the main character(s). In the English sentence "I eat fruit," the word "I" is the subject of the action ("fruit" is the object, the thing that is being eaten).

The subject can be a word or a phrase; a person or an object or anything really. What's important is that we describe what the subject is or is doing.

Multiple subjects are joined with the particle i.

Separating multiple subjects

subject i subject li verb (e object).

Example

mi i le li me e flo.
Me and her have money.

Predicate

The predicate describes the subject or what it is doing. It includes verbs and objects. In the English sentence "The person looks at the tree", "looks at the tree" is the predicate.

In Slovura, the predicate can be interpreted as a verbnounadjective, or prepositional phrase. (If the predicate has an e, then it is specifically a transitive verb that the subject does to a direct object.)
